Back in December, Sue hosted a workshop and walked members through the ins and outs of Bergman loom maintenance. Since many of the looms on the floor are Bergman looms, this workshop was super educational. I got to join this workshop, and compiled more detailed notes on what Sue covered. If you’d like to see these notes, reach out and I’ll be happy to share them.

Many of the members who attended this workshop were assigned the studio responsibility of maintaining looms, and have been steadily working to repair where needed ever since!
The loom that was used for Sue’s demo was the first on the list for repairs, and is now good as new after many hours of sanding, staining, and much TLC. Once all individual parts were restored, members got together for an afternoon for a “Texsolv party” to put all the pieces back together.

The loom maintenance team has since then been hard at work to restore another recent acquisition. This one is a Baby Bergman (so cute!) that happens to be a counterbalance, and is much smaller than the average Bergman loom. It’s now back in business and is currently being used for a beginner project by one of our new weavers.
Thank you to Robin, Lynne, Kate, Debbie, Edith, Zoe, and Kristine who worked tirelessly to restore the looms!
